As we were at the zoo looking at the gorillas, this one gorilla came up to the window and gave us a big smile, then left. We thought we were just really lucky and hoped it would come back again because we did not get a picture of it. Well it did come back, not once or twice but 3 times. I have never seen a gorilla sit there like it did and keep coming back. We think it was following us because once we left it came to where we went. It was pretty fun to watch. Cole was pretty funny. He was pretty close to the glass when it came up to the window and it scared him. He stayed back by me the whole time, but he liked watching it.

Derrick and I have a picture in this same spot that was taken 3 years ago when I came to visit him when he was in Iwakuni Japan for a few months. I never imagined I was going to live here. It sure has been a great experience.

This is how narrow some of the streets are we drive down. The one with the red car is actually a 2 way street and it gets narrower as you go down the hill. I actually hit a pole with the mirror and it folded in on me. I would however hit a pole than a japanese car.

Questions for Cole

The other day Derrick was asking Cole questions to see if he could answer a question with anything other than No. Here are some of the questions Derrick asked him. I was Laughing so hard how he answered the question about his name.

Can you say anything other than no? No
What's your name? Me
What's your favorite show? Cars
Who is your favorite train? Diesel
Are you glad I'm (referring to Derrick) home? No
Do you want me (Derrick) to leave? No
Are you cute? No

He never says yes and when you ask him what he is doing he always says, "NO" Maybe one day he will surprise us and tell us what he is actually doing.

Ueno Park Adventures

The tarps are just a few of the ones we did see lined up under the trees. It looked as if there were many businesses or families having dinner. They had tons of food too. Their tables were cardboard boxes. We were guessing the tarps had to be reserved. It was different to see.

As we were walking down the sidewalk Derrick looked over at the bathroom and noticed the long line for the men but not the women. How often does this happen?

Nothing comes better than dinner on a stick. Derrick's is a fish, which we don't know how much of it they eat and Cole had a hot dog on a stick. It was about 8 inches long and 1 inch thick. Their hot dogs on a stick are pretty good. They do taste different from American hot dogs.

We saw this guy at the train stating in Yokohama but it would have been too difficult to get the camera out, so when we saw him at the park we had to get a picture. If you look close at his ears he has real fish hanging from them. You never know what you are going to see here in Japan.
Here is a vendor selling food. A majority of the vendors will talk very loud at all the people and try to get them to buy things. All of them are nice and organized like this one is.
This is a view walking down to the street vendors, which is across the street. Notice all the people we had to make our way through. On our way back there was a taxi sitting right on the cross walk and the light turned red before he could make it through because of the line-up of cars and all the people walked around the taxi while he just sat there. I wanted to get a picture of it but it would have been a pain to stop and get it out.
These 3 cats caught my attention, along with everyone else. Notice all the cameras. The people here go crazy over cats.

Us in front of the line of cherry blossom trees.
Here is the row of cherry blossom trees. I held the camera up high so you could see all the people. It was kind of hard to move through there especially with a stroller. Some people would just walk and make their way through. I guess they are use to the crowd and if you want to make it somewhere then you have to make your way through without stopping or you will be stuck.

never leave a child unattended

A few days ago I was making some rolls for dinner and I sat in the living room to wait for them to raise. I realized Cole was in the kitchen so I went to check on him. He was playing with his cars in the flour I was using for the rolls and planned to use it after to roll the dough out. It was pretty messy, luckily we have a broom to sweep all the flour up.
Another time I was in the kitchen making dinner and I heard Cole coloring on his chalkboard so I figured as long as I could hear him and what he was doing I knew he was ok. I turned my back to work more on dinner when suddenly I realized he was being very quiet. I turned around and saw that he was being an artist. He was pretty proud of his work and wanted to keep going. All I can say is I am glad we have the magic eraser.
